――日本では、植林された樹木の剪定は、自然との共存と繁栄の手段として定着しています。
私は、剪定された樹木から日本の美学を視覚化できると思いました。
美的感覚を表現するために日本画や水墨画などの典型的な日本美術で使用されている余白を考慮したアプローチを選択しました。
本作品では、日本の各都市で剪定を通した共存共栄の関係にある樹木を被写体としています。――

This is a collection of works exhibited at UNKNOWN ASIA 2023.

――In Japan, the pruning of planted trees has become established as a means of coexisting with and thriving alongside nature.
I believed that I could visualize Japanese aesthetics through pruned trees.
To express this aesthetic sensibility, I chose an approach that incorporates the use of negative space, a technique commonly found in traditional Japanese art forms such as Nihonga and ink wash painting.
This work features trees in various Japanese cities that exist in a relationship of coexistence and mutual prosperity through pruning.――
